Good Sunday morning! It's been raining here in South Florida for weeks now. Feast or famine...either the grass is brown or an umbrella doesn't even do the trick!
I struggled for months with my new-found weight gain. Yep, for me, being compliant meant gaining unwanted pounds. When I finally faced the music and got on a scale, I discovered that 11 pounds found their way onto my hips, stomach and boobs. Yuck, yuck, yuck....again, my sister Ellen, of I Am Gluten Free, inspired me to investigate the reliable Weight Watchers routine. I decided to go online and register...go at it alone. In three weeks I've lost 3 pounds. For those of you who don't know weight watchers, the slower the better. "Slower to take it off, slower to put it on." That has to be my new mantra because most people would've thrown in the towel at this point. Going online I can record my daily points, look up recipes (adapting gf, of course), and find point values. It's a good tool for me.
So now, we read labels for gluten and point value. Think Thin is a gf bar I've eaten for the past two years. Yummy, but 5 points, so instead of a snack, it becomes my meal. I eat sllloowwly so it lasts. You just cannot imagine how many calories are racked up in gf breads and pasta. Be careful....take my 11 pound weight gain advice. It catches up with you in no time!
I think I am beginning to master the gf, ww routine. Weighing my protein at night has also made a huge difference. 4-5 ounces of chicken is plenty if you add salad and a vegetable.
Here's my favor....please, if you've had success with maintaining your weight eating gf, with or without Weight Watchers please share. Let me know your secrets.
Fondly,
Faye

YES, please let me know what success you have with WW! I really need to lose weight and I know gluten-free fare doesn't always make it easy! I am looking forward to hearing about your progress!!
Similarly, compliance for me was the road to a weight gain! Your story will also be of interest to me!
I find that being gluten free and on weight watchers is a good fit. Both require a lot of veggies and fruit and unprocessed foods. I think being diagnosed has made me eat healthier and made it possible for me to attempt weight watchers.
Hi everyone!
About 10 years ago, I lost 25 pounds on Weight Watchers. Since then, I experienced pregnancy, death of family members, and the challenge of a GF lifestyle. All of these issues contributed to being 60 pounds heavier then I was at my goal weight.
I have joined weight watchers again, and lost 10 pounds in 12 weeks. It's a slow loss, and I know it will probably take me 2 years to lose all the weight, but it really is the healthiest way to lose. I've also found that I've finally accepted the fact that my healthy diet is a change in lifestyle. When I get the munchies, I have to sit down and write about what I'm feeling. What I find is it's typically emotional. I also have to force myself to exercise. I hate exercising, but it changes something in my body chemistry--I feel so much better when it's done. I've also switched to a vegetarian diet, which you certainly don't need to do on WW, but it also makes me feel better.
At any rate, I highly recommend WW. I have an online membership and I attend meetings once a week.
Best of luck!
Amy
I did weight watchers before discovering that me and gluten are not friends (not diagnosed as I refuse to do a gluten challenge - no more poison for me!) and lost 45 pound. I've gained it back over 3 years, due to the whole 'what the heck won't set me off' problmes I was having = was down to boiled chicken, chocolate and white rice! Not healthy. Add a death in the family and two emmigrations....
I'm back on the bandwagon though. Subscribing t o the AA theory. just for today, I will not go over my points.
Just for today.
I do however, count quinoa as a whole grain (my book does not have it as a core food) as well as tapioca. Hey, a girl needs to be able to eat something!
Hey just joining, glad to be here! I'm glad to be here lastly, going to publish due to the fact I've been studying a long time.
Sooo anyways, sufficient info about me, see you around and hello once more haha.
PS, how do I change the little picture thingy like some people have, I like it but can't figure it out haha
I know this is an old thread but if someone out there is searching they might be interested in a page with gluten free weightwatchers food ideas.
Gluten free WeightWatchers food ideas
I got diagnosed with Celiac disease last year and since then I have been struggling with weight gain and celiac flares. I have learned a lot on GF foods, ingredients, cross contamination, etc. I am looking into trying the WW loss weight plan and hopefully it will help me to lose weight. If anyone have ideas or a WW food list that want to share with me I will gladly appreciated.
